Soccer Game Preview: West Florence vs. Chapin

West Florence hasn't had much luck against Chapin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as West Florence comes in on three and Chapin on 13.

West Florence is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against St. James by a score of 4-2. The game was the first time West Florence have beaten St. James on their pitch since March 8, 2019.

Meanwhile, Chapin faced Lucy Beckham in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Eagles never let the Bengals get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. Chapin's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last seven matches.

They hit Lucy Beckham with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Lexie Kilmon (2), Grace Benson, Kat Haigler, and Mayson Donohue.

Chapin's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those eight games. As for West Florence, their record now sits at 20-3.

West Florence might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Chapin in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
