Volleyball Game Preview: Georgetown Eagles vs. Midway Panthers

Georgetown is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Midway is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will host the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

On Friday, Georgetown made easy work of Pflugerville and carried off a 3-0 win.

Georgetown never let Pflugerville on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-22, 25-8.

Georgetown's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tricia Carson-Walker, who had nine digs, and Jordan Pitkethley, who had ten digs and four assists. That's the most digs Carson-Walker has posted since back in September. Mary Rose Shoales also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Meanwhile, Midway got the win against Killeen on Friday by a conclusive 3-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-4, 25-8, 25-16.

Midway's victory bumped their record up to 30-10. As for Georgetown, their win bumped their record up to 29-12.

Georgetown was able to grind out a solid victory over Midway when the teams last played back in September of 2020, winning 3-1. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
