Basketball Recap: Madison La Follette Takes a Loss

After flying high against Janesville Parker last Tuesday, Madison La Follette came back down to earth. The Madison La Follette Lancers were beaten by the Vel Phillips Memorial Spartans 64-37 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Spartans are ranked 72nd).

Madison La Follette's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Vel Phillips Memorial, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Madison La Follette will venture away from home to take on Monona Grove at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vel Phillips Memorial, they will square off against Verona at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Vel Phillips Memorial has won five straight at home, while Verona won eight straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
