Football Game Preview: Ashley Screaming Eagle vs. North Brunswick Scorpions

Ashley is 2-8 against North Brunswick since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Screaming Eagle will look to defend their home field against the Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Bryson Lovelace and Kane Jenrette.

Ashley blew Laney out of the water the last time the pair played, but last Friday Laney got their revenge. The Screaming Eagle fell just short of the Buccaneers by a score of 21-18. The Screaming Eagle gained 85 more yards on the day, but it was the Buccaneers that made the best use of them.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Brunswick). They took down West Brunswick 42-24 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Scorpions in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.

North Brunswick had a senior duo take command as Ty Whiters picked up 90 receiving yards and one touchdown and Jonah Campbell rushed for 71 yards on only nine carries. Whiters' longest reception was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.

Ashley's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for North Brunswick, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-4.

Ashley took their victory against North Brunswick in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 35-14 score. Will the Screaming Eagle repeat their success, or do the Scorpions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
