Volleyball Recap: Pathway Christian Starts Season with Victory at Home

Pathway Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the East Moline Christian Eagles. The Panthers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 3, 2024 (when they won 3-0).

While Pathway Christian won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 26-24, 25-12.

Their offense was headlined by Lorena Helmuth and Maggie Shetler, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Leah Schrock and her 26 assists. Stella Gehman controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Despite the loss, East Moline Christian still got an impressive performance from Annie Willcox, who had five aces and two blocks.

East Moline Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Pathway Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Faith Christian on the 21st. As for East Moline Christian, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Quad Cities Christian on the 25th.
