Arcata came tearing into Thursday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Eureka Loggers with points to spare, taking the game 72-56. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while the Loggers are ranked 350th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Eureka still got an impressive performance from Will Mooney, who posted 30 points. Those 30 points gave Mooney a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trenton Gerber, who earned 11 points and three steals.

Arcata's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points over those games. As for Eureka, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-9.

Arcata does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eureka, they will head out to challenge McKinleyville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Eureka's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
