Basketball Recap: Atlantic Collegiate Academy Piles Up the Points Against Marion

On Friday, the Atlantic Collegiate Academy Armada took their match with ease, bagging a 70-33 victory over the Marion Swamp Foxes. Given the Armada's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Swamp Foxes are ranked 172nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Atlantic Collegiate Academy was led to victory by Jaylen Bellamy and Jamie Brooks. Bellamy almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards, while Brooks dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Bellamy, who posted six points and 11 boards.

The win made it two in a row for Atlantic Collegiate Academy and bumps their season record up to 5-2. As for Marion, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Atlantic Collegiate Academy and Quality Education Academy will round out the year against one another at at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Marion, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cane Bay at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
