Softball Recap: Anaheim Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

Anaheim had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Western on Wednesday. The Colonists blew past the Pioneers 15-3. The Colonists might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Taylor Falt was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, Jenelle Monzon was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Irene Ramirez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Anaheim always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western only posted an OBP of .348.

Anaheim pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Western, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Anaheim didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 23-2 victory against Los Amigos on the 11th. As for Western, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-3 defeat against Savanna on the 16th.
