Baseball Game Preview: Estero Wildcats vs. Bonita Springs Bullsharks

The Estero Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Bonita Springs Bullsharks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Estero saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Fort Myers. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Landon Brown was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. Case Bowman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bonita Springs suffered their closest loss since February 11th on Thursday. They fell just short of South Fort Myers by a score of 7-5.

Riley Proulx and David Sadler stepped up to the plate in a big way. Proulx scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Sadler scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was Sadler's first of the season.

Bonita Springs' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-10. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Estero, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Estero has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bonita Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Estero couldn't quite finish off Bonita Springs in their previous matchup last Thursday and fell 4-2. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
