Basketball Recap: Elba Comes Up Short

Elba lost against Heartland Lutheran back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Elba Bluejays took a blow against the Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets, falling 61-21. The Bluejays were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-13.

Despite the loss, Elba had strong showings from Blake Barg, who posted ten points and eight rebounds, and Ethan Lange, who had four points. Barg is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played.

Heartland Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chad Rostvet led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Rostvet a new career-high in steals (six). Another player making a difference was Cole Lindner, who went 7 of 12 en route to 16 points and five steals.

Elba has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season. As for Heartland Lutheran, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elba will welcome Twin Loup at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Heartland Lutheran, they will host Palmer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
