Football Recap: Concord Bears vs. Newark Memorial Cougars
Concord couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 28-15 to the Newark Memorial Cougars on Friday. The Bears lost against the Cougars in their previous head to head back in August of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 41-0 score last time.
Concord's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Reger, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 41 receiving yards. Chris Dunn handled things on the ground, rushing for 89 yards.
