Softball Game Preview: Coldwater Cavaliers vs. Fort Loramie Redskins

The Coldwater Cavaliers will face off against the Fort Loramie Redskins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Coldwater is leaving town to face Fort Loramie after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Coldwater lost 17-9 to Bradford on Saturday. The Cavaliers have struggled against the Railroaders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Fort Loramie had to kick off their season on the road two weeks ago, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over Bradford.

Laney Barhorst was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ava Schafer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Barhorst wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Fort Loramie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bradford only managed seven hits.

Coldwater came out on top in a nail-biter against Fort Loramie when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coldwater since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
