Basketball Recap: Watts Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Watts can now relate to. They were beaten by the Buffalo Valley Buffaloes 81-20 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Engineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while the Buffaloes are ranked 139th).

Buffalo Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raelea Johnson, who went 6-for-9 en route to 16 points and four steals. Johnson has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Tristyn Kirkes was another key player, going 7-for-11 on her way to 17 points.

Watts has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Buffalo Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-7.

As of now, neither Watts nor Buffalo Valley have any future games scheduled.
