The Islip Buccaneers will challenge the Kings Park Kingsmen at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Islip came up short against Miller Place and fell 10-5. The Buccaneers haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Ava Mirenda was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
Meanwhile, Kings Park had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Baymen an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Kingsmen have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Amanda Van Schuyler, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Hampton Bays off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madeleine Cooper, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Courtney McKenna was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Kings Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .425. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hampton Bays only posted a batting average of .043.
Kings Park pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Islip, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7-1.
