Basketball Recap: Castleberry Comes Up Short

Castleberry was the 51-49 winner over Decatur when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Castleberry Lions had to suffer through a 80-50 loss at the hands of the Decatur Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 887th, while the Eagles are ranked 224th).

Castleberry's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Decatur, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 21-7.

Castleberry has already played their next contest (against Springtown), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Decatur will look to defend their home court on Friday against Krum at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Decatur's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matches.
