Softball Recap: Head-Royce Comes Up Short

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Head-Royce and St. Joseph Notre Dame had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Jayhawks fell just short of the Pilots by a score of 4-2 on Friday. The Jayhawks haven't had much luck with the Pilots recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Juno Yu spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Head-Royce saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayla Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Head-Royce's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for St. Joseph Notre Dame, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Head-Royce is set to square off against their familiar foe Lick-Wilmerding at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, St. Joseph Notre Dame will take on rival Redwood Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
