Softball Recap: Fannett Metal Snags Ninth Victory in Last 11 Games

Fannett Metal lost to Shade back in May of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. Fannett Metal never let Shade get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Fannett Metal might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Harleigh Detweiler, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Shade off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lauren Kline, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Lilian Daniel, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fannett Metal kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 10-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Fannett Metal is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Shade, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season.

Fannett Metal will head out to face off against Berlin Brothersvalley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mountaineers' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Fannett Metal's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Shade does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
