Softball Recap: North Myrtle Beach Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact North Myrtle Beach can now relate to. They fell just short of the Conway Tigers by a score of 7-6 on Wednesday. The Chiefs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 9-1.

Sierra Bendik spent all 8.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carolina Porter was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Olson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

North Myrtle Beach's loss dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Conway, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season.

North Myrtle Beach will face off against Chapin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Conway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
