Basketball Recap: St. David's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak at Home

It was a proper cat-fight when St. David challenged Rock Point on Friday. The St. David Tigers took a 46-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rock Point Cougars. It was the first time this season that the Tigers let down their fans at home.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emma Hart, who posted eight points along with nine boards and seven steals. Hart is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Emelynn Jacquez was another key player, going 5 of 11 on her way to 10 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Even though they lost, St. David smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in 14 consecutive matchups.

St. David's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-8. As for Rock Point, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

St. David wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 63-62 victory against Willcox on the 13th. As for Rock Point, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-56 loss against Fort Thomas on the 11th.
