Softball Recap: 15 Straight Home Wins for Dexter

Dexter had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the East Mountain Timberwolves a 15-0 shutout. The Demons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by ten runs or more this season.

Nobody will forget Kaylonie Nevarez's heroic performance anytime soon (especially East Mountain's batters): she turned in a perfect game. Nevarez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Issabellah Aguilar was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Hannah Sanders was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Dexter pushed their record up to 17-1 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for East Mountain, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-21.

Dexter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 10-0 win against Jal on the 21st. As for East Mountain, they have also already played their next game, a 16-1 loss against Ruidoso on the 22nd.
