While Lake Cormorant's win against Southaven wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Lake Cormorant pulled ahead with a 20-19 photo finish over Southaven on Friday. Lake Cormorant hasn't had any issues with Southaven recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Edris Vaulx had a dynamite game, rushing for 153 yards. Those 153 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Vaulx was just one part of a punishing run game: Lake Cormorant was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 326 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 244 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Lake Cormorant's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Southaven, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. After each having a week off, Lake Cormorant and South Panola will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. The matchup will give Lake Cormorant their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Southaven, they will take on Tupelo at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
