IV Section III recap September 17, 2013
River Valley's Derek Advocate rumbled for the longest rushing play in IV Section III this season in his game against Lee Williams last week. Advocate ran for 61 yards on the play and finished with 128 on the day as his team topped the Volunteers.
Parker scaled the state rankings by moving to 123 from 153 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Broncs were able to make move up by beating Payson 28-21.
Brandon Long was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 182 yards on 10 carries as River Valley bested Lee Williams.
Long was the best receiver in IV Section III this week as Terry Staggs' team beat the Volunteers. Long tallied 2 receptions for 15 yards. Kyle Terrones helped River Valley's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 12 yards.
Charles Johnson put up the best numbers in passing as Wickenburg lost to Combs. He finished with 14 completions for 149 yards.
Long provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Dust Devils bested Lee Williams.
The Wranglers' Johnson and Cloud Fritts have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Johnson has thrown for 387 yards this season, while Fritts has 12 catches for 167 yards. River Valley's Long leads the league in rushing yards with 401.
The Dust Devils took down the Volunteers 54-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Long during the win.
