Volleyball Recap: Schulenburg Shorthorns vs. Johnson City Eagles
Schulenburg and Johnson City squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Schulenburg had to settle for second. They came up short against the Johnson City Eagles, falling 3-0. Considering the last time the Shorthorns couldn't score was back in August, the team can't take the result too hard.
Schulenburg was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Johnson City work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 26-24, 25-21.
Emmrie Marx paced Schulenburg's offense, picking up 18 kills. Marx got some help from
Landry Zapalac and her 24 assists.
Clara Magliolo controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
With the loss, Schulenburg broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 33-12. As for Johnson City, they are on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 20 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 35-8 record this season.
