Preview: Woods Charter Wolves vs. Clover Garden School Grizzlies
Woods Charter is 1-7 against Clover Garden School since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Woods Charter Wolves will head out on the road to square off against the Clover Garden School Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m.
On Friday, Woods Charter was beaten by Triangle Math & Science 67-29. Woods Charter was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-16.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Clover Garden School ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They snuck past Eno River with a 40-35 win. The victory was just what Clover Garden School needed coming off of a 56-35 defeat in their prior game.
Clover Garden School found their leader in underclassman Hanna Tickle, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten steals. Tickle hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Harrelson, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Woods Charter has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Clover Garden School, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.
Woods Charter came up short against Clover Garden School when the teams last played back in January, falling 47-42. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Clover Garden School's Arissa Duff, who scored ten points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
