Basketball Game Preview: New Diana Eagles vs. Chapel Hill Red Devils

The New Diana Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Chapel Hill Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. New Diana will be strutting in after a victory while Chapel Hill will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, New Diana beat Hughes Springs 40-36. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

New Diana's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jolie Ballard, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards, and Taryn Reece, who posted 11 points and six rebounds. Reece is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

New Diana was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Chapel Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against Jefferson, falling 60-29.

New Diana's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-14. As for Chapel Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.

New Diana was dealt a bruising 96-16 loss at the hands of Chapel Hill when the teams last played back in November of 2019. Can New Diana avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
