Baseball Recap: Baker County Comes Up Short

If Baker County was riding high fresh off their 8-2 takedown of Bradford last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Baker County fell just short of the Fernandina Beach Pirates by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Baker County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hank Dyal, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Baker County dropped their record down to 8-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fernandina Beach, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Baker County will take on West Nassau at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fernandina Beach, they will challenge St. Augustine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
