Volleyball Recap: Coon Rapids Takes Down Ranked Park Center

Coon Rapids faced Park Center in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Cardinals came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 3-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cardinals as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Coon Rapids had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-18.

Josh Kavanaugh was the offensive standout of the game as he had 13 digs.

Coon Rapids was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since the start of last season.

The win got Coon Rapids back to even at 3-3. As for Park Center, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Coon Rapids and Maple Grove will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Park Center, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Camden at 7:00 p.m. on May 1.
