Basketball Recap: Avon Park Takes a Loss

Avon Park lost against Moore Haven back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Avon Park Red Devils came up short against the Moore Haven Terriers, falling 60-38. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Avon Park lost, don't look at Tytianna Allen. Despite the final result, she posted 22 points along with five boards and three steals. That was a full 57.9% of Avon Park's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Stewart, who had seven points and five rebounds.

Leading Moore Haven to victory were Sa'Nyree Myers and Akeelah Ling. Myers posted 17 points in addition to seven assists and three steals, while Ling went 6 of 12 on her way to 16 points along with five boards and three steals. The contest was Myers' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Preslynn Baker was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 21 rebounds.

Avon Park's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Moore Haven, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon Park won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hardee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Moore Haven, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll take on Babcock at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Moore Haven has won four straight at home, while Babcock won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
