Softball Game Preview: Ashland Hornets vs. Central Aroostook Panthers

The Ashland Hornets will square off against the Central Aroostook Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Ashland barely beat Hodgdon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hornets blew past the Hawks 23-5 on Friday. The Hornets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Central Aroostook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 27-15 to Hodgdon.

Ashland's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3. As for Central Aroostook, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Ashland got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Central Aroostook by a conclusive 17-7 score. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
