Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask R.J. Reynolds). They put the hurt on the Parkland Mustangs with a sharp 9-0 victory on Monday. Given R.J. Reynolds' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Parkland are ranked 411th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

R.J. Reynolds' offense was hitting Parkland from everywhere, as eight different players booted in a goal. Ruby Ferree led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

R.J. Reynolds pushed their record up to 4-2-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those three matchups. As for Parkland, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. R.J. Reynolds will venture away from home to square off against Glenn at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. R.J. Reynolds will be up against Glenn's rather soft defense (which has allowed 2.8 goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Parkland, they are taking a road trip to take on East Forsyth at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East Forsyth's last four games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
