Football Recap: Central Noble Takes a Loss

Central Noble played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Lakeland Lakers, falling 42-8. The Cougars have struggled against the Lakers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Central Noble lost, don't look at Nick Freeman. Despite the final result, he picked up 129 receiving yards and one score. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 95 yards.

Lakeland had a senior duo take command as Keyan Arroyo gained 147 total yards and three touchdowns and Brayden Holbrook threw for 166 yards and three TDs on only 11 passes. Arroyo also hauled in two receiving touchdowns, which is notable because the Lakers are undefeated when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Levi Cook also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Central Noble's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Lakeland, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Central Noble will challenge Churubusco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 13 points per game this season, so the Cougars' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Lakeland, they will square off against West Noble at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
