Basketball Recap: Ponca Takes a Loss

Ponca easily dispatched Winnebago last Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Indians fell just short of the Cedar Catholic Trojans by a score of 40-37 on Tuesday. The Indians have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Ponca lost, don't look at Elsie Keller. Despite the final result, she shot 56% from the field en route to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Carlee Beckner, who posted five points.

Cedar Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anisten Wortmann, who earned 12 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Walter, who had 11 points.

Ponca's record now sits at 9-9. As for Cedar Catholic, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-8.

Ponca has already played their next contest, a 41-37 loss against Wynot on the 29th. As for Cedar Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-45 victory against Plainview on the 29th.
