After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Camden, York was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They skirted past the Northwestern Trojans 5-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2025.

The team relied heavily on Connor Sweatt, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.

York has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Northwestern, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

York and Northwestern could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. The Cougars will square off against A.C. Flora at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (101 vs. 13). Meanwhile, Northwestern (ranked 134th) will meet Indian Land (ranked 18th) at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
