Basketball Recap: Belmont Takes a Loss

Belmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 63-28 loss at the hands of the Meadowdale Lions. That's two games in a row now that the Bison have lost by exactly 35 points.

Belmont's loss came despite strong showings from Lillian Rupp and Mashayla Valentine. Rupp went 5 for 7 en route to 11 points and six boards, while Valentine posted nine points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Valentine has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Meadowdale to victory, but perhaps none more so than Janiyah Middlebrook, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bay'Shanna Drake, who had 14 points in addition to seven steals and five assists.

Belmont's defeat dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Meadowdale, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belmont has already played their next match (against Mercy McAuley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Meadowdale has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Middletown Christian.
