Basketball Recap: Santa Rosa Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Mycah Mason and Austyn Hopkins

Santa Rosa Academy lost against Temecula Prep back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Santa Rosa Academy Rangers fell 75-66 to the Temecula Prep Patriots. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (61), the Rangers still had to take the loss.

Austyn Hopkins and Mycah Mason certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Hopkins went 11 of 24 en route to 30 points, while Mason posted 19 points. Those 30 points gave Hopkins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Devan Sams, who had four points and six rebounds.

Santa Rosa Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season. As for Temecula Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5.

Santa Rosa Academy will host California Military Institute at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Santa Rosa Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for Temecula Prep, they will take on Desert Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
