Football Recap: Wellington Crusaders vs. Arkansas City Bulldogs
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wellington had no problem doing just that on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 37-20 win over the Arkansas City Bulldogs. For the Crusaders, this counts as revenge for the 27-6 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2020.

Wellington found their leader in sophomore Colton Elmore, who threw for 234 yards and two TDs while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 36 yards and one touchdown. The Crusaders also got a significant boost from Jalik Armstrong, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 113 yards.
Wellington was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 204 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 178 rushing yards in seven consecutive matchups.

Wellington's record now sits at 7-2. As for Arkansas City, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-7.
Looking ahead, Wellington will face off against Rose Hill on Friday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight. Arkansas City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
