Basketball Recap: Legacy Charter Skates Past Cornerstone Charter Academy with Ease

Legacy Charter won the last time they faced Cornerstone Charter Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Legacy Charter Eagles took their match with ease, bagging a 75-44 win over the Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Ducks are ranked 528th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Legacy Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Khaliel Caldwell, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jayden Richmond, who went 7 for 13 en route to 17 points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

Legacy Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cornerstone Charter Academy only racked up 11 assists.

Cornerstone Charter Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Derick Augustin, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points. Dominick Soto was another key player, going 5 for 7 en route to 13 points.

Legacy Charter has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, they dropped their record down to 5-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
