Volleyball Recap: Laguna Acoma Extends Winning Streak to Five

Laguna Acoma had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Hozho Academy Wolves. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Wolves on October 14th, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Laguna Acoma wouldn't go down easily and took Hozho Academy into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 21-25, 15-25, 25-20, 15-9.

Kalie Poncho paced Laguna Acoma's offense, picking up 12 kills. Poncho got some help from Leila Lorenzo and her 18 assists. Lorenzo and Poncho didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with four apiece.

Laguna Acoma's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Hozho Academy, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Laguna Acoma will face off against rival Ramah at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hozho Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Rehoboth Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
