Basketball Recap: La Joya Community Gets the Win

La Joya Community won the last time they faced Metro Tech and Isaiah Carter did his part to make sure it happened again. The Fighting Lobos blew past the Knights 68-33 on Friday with plenty of help from Carter, who shot 5-for-8 from deep and almost dropped a double-double with 28 points and nine boards. The game was his eighth in a row with at least 16 points.

Billy Mpoyi was another key player, putting up eight points. He has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 67% every time he's hit the court this season.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacquon Banks, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Lamoni Cuautle also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

La Joya Community's record now sits at 5-3. As for Metro Tech, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, La Joya Community will take on Marcos de Niza at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Lobos will need to watch out since the Padres have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Metro Tech, they will challenge Carl Hayden Community at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
