Softball Game Preview: Perkins Pirates vs. Bellevue Redmen

The Perkins Pirates will face off against the Bellevue Redmen at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Perkins is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

Perkins took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Norwalk, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pirates skirted past the Truckers 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Maycee Bohn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Aubrey Ransom was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Hannah Koelsch, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bellevue was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Galion, falling 19-2.

Bellevue saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Easterwood, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Easterwood's first of the season.

Perkins now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Bellevue, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Perkins hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. However, it's not like Bellevue struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Perkins couldn't quite finish off Bellevue in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 and fell 4-2. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
