Softball Game Preview: United Longhorns vs. United South Panthers

United is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will look to defend their home field against the United South Panthers at 5:00 p.m. United is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

United saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came up short against Pearsall, falling 9-2.

United saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tatiana Mejia, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. That's the most stolen bases Mejia has posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, United South's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 7-3 to Devine.

Katie Herrera and Andrea Guerrero stepped up to the plate in a big way. Herrera went 1-for-2 with one home run, while Guerrero scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

United South's loss dropped their record down to 7-9-2. As for United, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11-1.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. United hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like United South struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

United was able to grind out a solid win over United South when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 4-1. Does United have another victory up their sleeve, or will United South turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
