Football Recap: Sadie O'neill's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Eastridge over Webster Thomas

Eastridge has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 15 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They fell 32-23 to the Webster Thomas Titans. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Titans are ranked 16th).

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sadie O'Neill, who threw for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 40 yards and one TD. Eastridge's leading receiver Madyson Fizer was O'Neill's top target yet again, picking up 160 receiving yards and one score.

Eastridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Fizer. Her receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked her fourth straight game with at least 160 receiving yards.

Eastridge's loss dropped their record down to 6-5-2. As for Webster Thomas, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Eastridge has already played their next game, an 18-0 defeat against Geneva on the 12th. As for Webster Thomas, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 40-13 victory against Irondequoit on the 12th.
