Basketball Game Preview: Coal Ridge Titans vs. Windsor Charter Academy Firebirds

Having just played yesterday, the Coal Ridge Titans will jump right back in to play the Windsor Charter Academy Firebirds at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Coal Ridge is headed into the game having just posted their biggest win since February 3rd on Friday. They blew past Lotus School For Excellence, posting a 65-38 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.

Coal Ridge relied on the efforts of Alex Cornejo, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards, and Ben Simons, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Simons also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in January. Christopher Harvey was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Coal Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Windsor Charter Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 88-32 win over Moffat County. The Firebirds' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Coal Ridge now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Windsor Charter Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
