Football Recap: Ellwood City Comes Up Short at Home Against Laurel

Ellwood City unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Laurel Spartans on Friday, falling 43-14. The Wolverine were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Kolton Carlson was a one-man wrecking crew For Laurel. as he rushed for 108 yards on only seven carries, and also picked up 82 receiving yards. Those 108 rushing yards gave Carlson a new career-high.

Coming up, Ellwood City will take on Shenango at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Laurel, they will challenge Mohawk Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
