Basketball Recap: Lakeland Christian's Run of Seven Straight Victories Now Over

After a string of seven wins, Lakeland Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Davenport Broncos by a score of 39-36.

Lakeland Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Rudi Jessee, who posted 15 points along with eight boards and three steals. Jessee is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Issa Simpson, who put up six points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Lakeland Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Lakeland Christian's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-4. As for Davenport, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeland Christian will head out to face off against Auburndale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Davenport, they will take on Osceola at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Osceola has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
