Basketball Recap: Butler Triumphs

Charlotte Catholic typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Butler proved too difficult a challenge. They secured a 65-61 W over the Charlotte Catholic Cougars. The score was all tied up 26-26 at the break, but the Bulldogs were the better team in the second half.

Terrance Badio continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 47% from the field on his way to 24 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Caleb Milligan, who posted nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chris Eagan, who went 6-for-7 to rack up 14 points and eight boards. Eagan is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 52% in the last 12 games he's played. King Rhodes was another key player, shooting 42% from the field en route to 13 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Butler and bumps their season record up to 15-11. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points over those games. As for Charlotte Catholic, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-6.

Butler didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-32 defeat against Independence on the 21st. As for Charlotte Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-52 loss against Hopewell on the 25th.
