North Posey is 0-9 against Evansville Reitz since April of 2015 but things could change on Saturday. The Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 11:00 a.m. North Posey is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
North Posey barely beat Boonville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings put the hurt on the Pioneers with a sharp 11-2 victory on Thursday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Pioneers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Ethan Mansfield and Dylan Murphy were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Mansfield didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Murphy tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At bat, Mansfield went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles, while Murphy got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run.
In other batting news, Kade Buecher was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Cullman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
North Posey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Evansville Reitz posted their closest victory since April 22nd on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Evansville Harrison. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Landon McCutchan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Oliver Gates, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Cayden McGrew was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.
North Posey's record is now 16-7. As for Evansville Reitz, their record now sits at 8-13.
North Posey's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's contest. The Vikings have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Evansville Reitz, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will North Posey continue to outrun the ball?
North Posey couldn't quite get it done against Evansville Reitz in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as they fell 8-4. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
