Basketball Game Preview: Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars vs. Southeast Halifax Trojans

Rocky Mount Prep hasn't had much luck against Southeast Halifax recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars will look to defend their home court against the Southeast Halifax Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Wednesday, Rocky Mount Prep came up short against Tarboro and fell 77-70. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 441st, while the Vikings are ranked 121st).

Meanwhile, Southeast Halifax was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-53 heartbreaker at the hands of Nash Central.

Rocky Mount Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Southeast Halifax, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Rocky Mount Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Southeast Halifax in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, winning 84-75. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Southeast Halifax's O'Tavion Arrington, who went 9 of 15 en route to 23 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Rocky Mount Prep still be able to contain Arrington? There's only one way to find out.
