Basketball Recap: Okolona Comes Up Short

After soaring to 56 points the game before, Okolona was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They fell 39-30 to the South Pontotoc Cougars. The contest was a 13-13 toss-up at halftime, but the Chieftains couldn't quite close it out.

Okolona is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-15. As for South Pontotoc, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Okolona won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Booneville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Booneville will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Okolona surely won't give up without a fight. As for South Pontotoc, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll face off against Byhalia at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in South Pontotoc's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Byhalia has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
