Softball Recap: Lake Mary Comes Up Short

Lake Mary lost a heartbreaker to Hagerty when they met back in March of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Wednesday. Lake Mary fell just short of Hagerty by a score of 7-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Huskies: they've now lost eight in a row.

Gabby Reyes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Addi Novitchkov, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Lake Mary hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive contests.

Lake Mary's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Hagerty, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Looking ahead, Lake Mary will be playing in front of their home fans against Seminole at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Mary is facing Seminole at the right time seeing as Seminole is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hagerty, they will head out to face off against Winter Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hagerty's pitchers better be ready for this one: Winter Springs has averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
